1. A tracheal tube, comprising:
a main lumen for delivering a breathing gas into a lung of a patient;
a cuff, mounted at a distal end of the tracheal tube, to be located in the subglottal region of the patient;
a cuff inflation lumen for inflating said cuff to form in the subglottal region a continuous volume which extends, within the subglottal region, from said cuff to the vocal cords of said patient; and
at least three additional lumens, other than said main lumen and said cuff inflation lumen, configured for delivering liquid to said continuous volume, for suctioning liquid from said continuous volume, and for venting said continuous volume, wherein each of said at least three additional lumens ends with a port at said continuous volume and outside any cuff of the tracheal tube;
wherein said delivering said liquid is via a rinsing port at said continuous volume, said suctioning of said liquid is via a suctioning port at said continuous volume, and said venting is via a venting port at said continuous volume, wherein said rinsing port, said suctioning port, and said venting port are separated from each other, and wherein lumens that end with said rinsing port, said suctioning port, and said venting port are separated from each other.
