1. A medical device comprising a water-insoluble hemostatic coating comprising an immobilized oligomerized polyphenol, the device configured so the immobilized oligomerized polyphenol comes in contact with a body fluid, and wherein the hemostatic coating has a thickness of less than 100 nm.
