1. A bed for a patient, comprising:
a patient platform comprising a backrest for supporting a patient's head and a patient's back region, a core body panel for supporting at least partially a patient's hip region and patient's legs, and a lower body panel for supporting the patient's legs;
a frame, the patient platform being mounted to the frame;
a base frame, the frame being mounted to the base frame;
a backrest actuator for pivoting the backrest relative to the frame;
an orientation sensor for determining an orientation of the backrest relative to the frame;
a control unit connected to the orientation sensor for determining a pivoting speed of the backrest based on the orientation of the backrest; and
a lower body actuator for pivoting the lower body panel or the core body panel relative to the frame, wherein, upon a determination that the pivoting speed of the backrest is above a threshold speed value and that the backrest is pivotable towards the frame, the control unit actuates the lower body actuator.
