1. A driver instrument, comprising:
an elongate body that extends from a proximal end to a distal end and defines a central axial lumen therebetween;
a receiving portion formed at the proximal end of the elongate body;
an engagement portion formed at the distal end of the elongate body that is configured to engage a bone anchor assembly;
a stylus comprising a guide projection that is configured to be received through the central axial lumen and be axially translatable proximally or distally relative to the elongate body such that, when the engagement portion is engaged with a bone anchor assembly, the stylus is axially translatable between at least a first position in which a distal end of the guide projection protrudes from a distal tip of the bone anchor assembly and a second position in which the distal end of the guide projection does not protrude from the distal tip of the bone anchor assembly;
a threaded portion disposed proximal to the stylus and configured to engage a corresponding threaded portion of the central axial lumen of the elongate body to secure the stylus to the elongate body; and
a proximal handle portion disposed adjacent to the threaded portion and configured to move relative to the elongate body to axially translate the stylus, the proximal handle portion receiving a portion of the receiving portion therethrough.
