1. A bone fixation system configured to be implanted across a discontinuity in a bone or across a joint between two bones, the system comprising:
an elongate implant; and
a clip including a first leg and a second leg, the clip further including a bridge that extends from the first leg to the second leg at first ends of the first and second legs respectively, wherein a distance between second, free ends of the first and second legs opposite the first ends is configured to increase when the clip changes from a first configuration to a second, deformed configuration, wherein, when moving to the second, deformed configuration, the bridge is elastically deformed such that free ends of the first and second legs move away from each other,
wherein the first leg of the clip is configured to be implanted on a first side of the discontinuity or joint and the second leg of the clip is configured to be implanted on a second side of the discontinuity or joint, and
wherein the clip is devoid of screw holes that extend through the bridge, such that the elongate implant is configured to be implanted at a location on the first side of the discontinuity or joint, whereby the elongate implant is entirely spaced from the bridge at a location between the first and second legs, and the first leg contacts the elongate implant.
