1. An automated process executed by a router device to allocate user data traffic between a digital subscriber line (DSL) connection from the router device to a network and a 5G wireless connection from the router device to the network, the automated process comprising:
evaluating a current state of the DSL connection between the router device and the network;
evaluating a current state of the 5G wireless connection between the router device and the network, wherein the current state of the DSL connection describes latency on the DSL connection and wherein the current state of the 5G wireless connection describes latency on the 5G wireless connection;
receiving the user data traffic via a local area network connection; and
selecting at least one of the DSL connection and the 5G wireless connection for the received user data traffic based upon the current state of the DSL connection and the current state of the 5G wireless connection, wherein the selecting comprises determining if the received user data traffic is latency sensitive, and if so, determining which of the DSL connection and the 5G wireless connection has less latency, wherein the determining if the received user data traffic is latency sensitive comprises recognizing low latency traffic based upon an analysis of at least one selected from the group of TCP/IP header data, source port number, and destination port number of the user data traffic; and
redirecting the received user data traffic to the network via the selected at least one of the DSL connection and the 5G wireless connection, wherein the redirecting comprises retransmitting the received user data traffic on the connection having less latency if the received user data traffic is determined to be latency sensitive.
