1. A method comprising:
obtaining, from a master sensor of a downhole tool, a plurality of master sensor responses on a master set of reference fluids;
obtaining, from a plurality of node sensors of the downhole tool, a plurality of node sensor responses on a reduced set of the reference fluids;
compensating the plurality of master sensor responses with the plurality of node sensor responses to generate a plurality of compensated master sensor responses;
determining a linear correlation between the plurality of compensated master sensor responses and the plurality of node sensor responses;
constructing a plurality of synthetic node sensor responses, from the plurality of compensated master sensor responses, for fluids not in the reduced set of reference fluids but in the master set of reference fluids;
applying a mapping algorithm to the plurality of node sensor responses and the plurality of synthetic node sensor responses to obtain a calibrated node sensor response; and
determining a fluid characteristic of a fluid in a wellbore based on the calibrated node sensor response; and
modifying at least one operation parameter for drilling or a well testing and sampling system based on the fluid characteristic of the fluid in the wellbore, wherein modifying at least one operation parameter comprises adjusting at least one of a flow rate and a flow direction of a pump-out during formation testing.
