1. A method for security screening comprising:
receiving an initiation signal for a scanning cycle to search a subject standing stationary in an examination area;
aligning an X-ray source of an imaging assembly with an X-ray detector of the imaging assembly, the X-ray source emitting an X-ray fan beam, and the X-ray detector receiving the X-ray fan beam from the X-ray source;
positioning the imaging assembly at a first angle such that an X-ray path defined by a connecting member joining the X-ray source and the X-ray detector from the X-ray source to the X-ray detector intersects a first side of the examination area;
moving the imaging assembly across the examination area to scan the subject by a detector translation and a source translation, wherein the detector translation is greater than the source translation, wherein translation of the X-ray source occurs independently of translation of the X-ray detector;
positioning the imaging assembly at a second angle such that the X-ray path intersects a second side of the examination area; and
receiving image data comprising a transmission X-ray linescan image of the subject.
