1. A method of making a supported catalyst and a polyolefin nanocomposite, comprising:
combining a zinc salt and an aluminum salt in an aqueous media and refluxing in the presence of an ionic surfactant and an inorganic base, then drying to obtain a zinc-aluminum layered double hydroxide (LDH);
mixing the zinc-aluminum layered double hydroxide, and a zirconocene complex in a nonpolar solvent to form a first mixture;
wherein prior to the mixing the zirconocene complex is not supported on the zinc-aluminum LDH;
sonicating the first mixture for at least one hour to form a homogeneous slurry;
degassing the homogeneous slurry and adding at least one olefin gas to form a second mixture;
adding an aluminoxane catalyst to the second mixture and reacting for at least 10 minutes to form a reaction mixture comprising the polyolefin nanocomposite; and
separating the polyolefin nanocomposite from the reaction mixture;
wherein the LDH is homogeneously dispersed in the polyolefin nanocomposite.
