1. A fungal mycelial biomass, comprising:
aerial hyphae; and
three layers;
wherein:
the fungal mycelial biomass is in the form of a mat, is an essentially pure fungal biomass of a single fungal strain or species, is suitable for use as a food product, and is not viable.
