1. A method of making an article from glass-ceramic comprising precipitates of formula MxWO3 and/or MxMoO3, where 0<x<1 and M is a dopant cation, the method comprising:
bleaching a region of the glass-ceramic such that the bleached region has a lesser concentration of the precipitates than adjoining glass-ceramic.
