1. A method of reducing the rate of transmission of an influenza virus infection comprising administering an effective amount of a compound to an index patient infected with the influenza virus, wherein the compound has the formula (II):

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and
wherein the method reduces the rate of transmission of the influenza virus from an index patient to at least one contact person as compared to the rate of transmission of the influenza virus from a control patient to at least one contact person.
