1. A digital television system comprising:
at least one receiver of digital television content with segment timeline signaling, the receiver being programmed with instructions to configure the receiver to:
receive information pertaining to replacement content (RC) which does not include a start time for playing the RC, or which includes the start time in a form that only a broadcast application (app) provided by a digital television broadcaster can read;
just prior to the start time, receive indication of the start time; and
at the start time, play the RC.
