1. An apparatus for use in detecting molecules and ions comprising:
a housing defining a chamber, the chamber having a liquid therein; and
a sensor array submerged in the liquid, the array comprising a plurality of sensors, each sensor in the plurality of sensors comprising,
a porous conductive film positioned on a substrate and made of chemiresistive semiconducting metal oxide structures, and
a pair of electrodes operably connected to the porous conductive film for generating electric current in the film between the electrodes and for detecting a change in an electrical property of the film.
