1. An apparatus comprising:
a receiver configured to receive a user command corresponding to a function of a fixture; and
a microprocessor configured to generate a fixture control message corresponding to the function;
wherein:
the user command:
is a first user command; and
conforms to a first fixture control protocol;
the receiver is configured to receive a second user command that:
corresponds to the function; and
conforms to a second fixture control protocol; and
the second fixture control protocol is different from the first fixture control protocol.
