1. A method of operating an electronic module, the method comprising:
releasably coupling the electronic module to a proximal end of an injection device;
depressing a button on the electronic module to (i) turn on the electronic module or establish a wireless connection between the electronic module and an additional electronic device, and (ii) cause the electronic module to determine a type of the injection device or a type of insulin contained within the injection device by detecting a color of a part of the injection device using a photometer within the electronic module;
turning at least part of the electronic module relative to the injection device to select an insulin dose for injection; and
injecting the insulin dose by moving at least part of the electronic module relative to the injection device and causing the electronic module to wirelessly transmit, to the additional electronic device, information associated with at least one of the type of the injection device or the type of insulin contained within the injection device, a volume of the insulin dose injected, or a date or time when the insulin dose was injected.
