1. A laptop having an integrated germicidal system, the laptop comprising:
a laptop base having a laptop input interface;
a laptop lid including a laptop screen and bezel, wherein the laptop lid is pivotally attached to the laptop base and selectively configurable between a closed laptop position an open laptop position;
a UV light source integrated into the laptop lid;
a controller configured to control the UV light source to project a UV illumination pattern on a target area of the laptop in the open position;
a sensor, wherein the controller is configured to control the UV light source based on output from the sensor;
wherein the controller is configured to turn on the UV light source in response to the laptop being configured into the closed laptop position; and
wherein the controller is configured to reduce at least one of a UV light source intensity or a UV light source on time period to account for a reduced distance from the UV light source to the target area in the closed position.
