1. A method for forming a Metal-organic framework/carbon nanotubes (MOF@CNTs) hybrid cathode material for use as a cathode in a Li—O2 ion battery, comprising: deprotonating an organic linker solution for a metal oxide framework (MOF); dropwise adding the organic linker solution into a mixture that includes carbon nanotubes (CNTs); and in situ growing a plurality of MOF nanoparticles (NPs) onto a functionalized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) substrate so as to form the MOF@CNTs hybrid cathode material.
