1. A configuration system adapted to retrieve and modify data related to a railroad system, comprising:
a memory including a database with a plurality of partitions, tables, or jobs;
a configuration file including or more parameters, instructions, operations, or conditions related to database management; and
a processor operably coupled to the memory and capable of executing machine-readable instructions to perform program steps, the program steps comprising:
reading and parsing the operations from the configuration file;
collecting metrics to determine a number of partitions, tables, or jobs scheduled to be run or created;
initializing a modification to be made to the database based on the operations from the configuration file, wherein initializing the modification includes:
determining whether required file systems are accessible; and
initializing variables used in executing the modification in response to a determination that the required file systems are accessible;
indicating the status of one or more database entries for a particular user;
extracting requested data from the database based on a date range of the requested data, a member group of the requested data, or a tablespace of the requested data; and
generating a notification of an error based on failed configuration initialization.
