1. A gated barrier comprising:
a) a barrier frame, the barrier frame defining a barrier plane;
b) a gate engaged to the barrier frame, the gate defining a gate plane, the gate movable vertically in the barrier plane by pressure from a hand or foot of a user, the gate swingable relative to the barrier frame such that the gate swings out of the barrier plane; and
c) a latch between the barrier frame and gate and engaged to one of the barrier frame and gate;
d) a latch receiver on one of the barrier frame and gate;
e) the latch having a latch end, the latch having an extended position relative to the latch receiver, the latch having a retracted position relative to the latch receiver;
f) the latch end being receivable in the latch receiver when the latch is in the extended position and when the latch end and latch receiver are both at a first height, the latch end being movable downwardly out of an open bottom of the latch receiver by said pressure when the latch is in the extended position so as to place the latch at a second height;
g) the gate being movable vertically in the barrier plane when the latch is in the extended position by said pressure;
h) the gate being swingable when i) the latch is in the extended position, ii) the gate is in the barrier plane, and iii) the latch is disposed at said second height;
i) the latch receiver further including a receiver top side, a receiver end opening, a receiver end side, a receiver first side, and a receiver second side, wherein the open bottom is directly opposite of the receiver top side, wherein the receiver end opening is directly opposite of the receiver end side, and wherein the receiver first side is directly opposite of the receiver second side, the receiver top side being closed;
j) the latch end having a latch end side, a latch end bottom side, a latch end top side, a latch end first side and a latch end second side;
k) when the latch is in the extended position, latch end side is adjacent to the receiver end side, the latch end bottom side is adjacent to the open bottom, the latch end top side is adjacent to the receiver top side, the latch end first side is adjacent to the receiver first side, and the latch end second side is adjacent to the receiver second side; and
l) A hinge between the gate and the barrier frame, the hinge having a vertical axis such that the gate swings on the vertical axis, with said vertical axis being parallel to an elongate portion of the barrier frame, and with the hinge permitting downward movement of the gate relative to the barrier frame such that the latch is movable through the bottom opening of the latch receiver.
