1. An optical measurement device comprising:
a light source;
a translucent detector positioned along a light path between the light source and a measurement site, the translucent detector comprising:
a detecting region configured to detect incident light, the incident light emitted by the light source as it emerges from the light source prior to reaching the measurement site, the detecting region configured to detect attenuated light, the attenuated light having been attenuated by the measurement site,
a translucent region through which light emitted by the light source passes prior to reaching the measurement site, and
wherein the translucent detector is configured to generate a first signal indicative of an intensity of the incident light and a second signal indicative of an intensity of the attenuated light; and
a processor configured to
receive the first signal and second signal from the translucent detector, and
determine a physiological parameter based at least in part on the first signal and the second signal.
