1. A computer-implemented method for validating whether or not a user of a mobile device is a driver of a vehicle, the method comprising:
receiving telematics data associated with operation of the vehicle and device interaction data associated with interaction of the user with the mobile device, wherein the telematics data and the device interaction data are generated by the mobile device during a vehicle trip;
analyzing the telematics data and the device interaction data to determine a plurality of vehicle driving instances in which the user interacts with the mobile device during the vehicle trip;
by using a classification technique, determining whether or not the user of the mobile device is the driver of the vehicle during the vehicle trip based at least in part upon the plurality of vehicle driving instances;
receiving positioning data associated with a position of the mobile device within the vehicle during the vehicle trip; and
validating the classification technique based at least in part upon the positioning data associated with the mobile device within the vehicle and whether or not the user of the mobile device is determined to be the driver of the vehicle.
