1. An assembly for an electronic locking system, the assembly comprising:
a stationary structure;
a shaft arranged to rotate within the stationary structure about a rotational axis; and
a release mechanism arranged to release a spring force induced by rotation of the shaft to an output member;
wherein the shaft extends through the stationary structure along the rotational axis such that a handle can be fixed to the shaft at each side of the stationary structure.
