1. A vehicle comprising:
at least one wheel;
an electric motor;
a battery pack including a first battery cell and at least one second battery cell, the first battery cell comprising a lithium-ion battery cell;
a monitoring device comprising at least one ultrasound source and at least one ultrasound sensor, the at least one ultrasound source being configured to direct ultrasound at the first battery cell, the at least one ultrasound sensor being configured to detect ultrasound transmitted through or reflected from at least a portion of an interior of the first battery cell and to generate one or more signals responsive to the detected ultrasound; and
a controller comprising one or more processors and one or more non-transitory computer readable storage media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the controller to process the one or more signals from the at least one ultrasound sensor and to output an indication of an internal state of the first battery cell,
wherein the battery pack is configured to power the electric motor to drive the at least one wheel.
