1. A controller for an internal combustion engine, the internal combustion engine including:
a cylinder;
an intake passage connected to the cylinder;
a water injection valve configured to inject water into the intake passage;
an intake valve configured to selectively open and close a connection port between the intake passage and the cylinder; and
a pressure adjustment device configured to adjust pressure of water supplied to the water injection valve, wherein
the controller comprises processing circuitry configured to execute a first injection process that causes the water injection valve to inject water when the intake valve is open and a second injection process that causes the water injection valve to inject water when the intake valve is closed, and
the processing circuitry is configured to control the pressure adjustment device such that the pressure of the water supplied to the water injection valve becomes higher in the second injection process than in the first injection process.
