1. A hydraulic component, comprising:
a steel surface; and
a coating disposed over the steel surface, wherein:
the coating comprises approximately 50% to approximately 75% tungsten carbide (WC) by weight,
the WC particles of the coating are larger than approximately 0.3 μm in size but smaller than 1 μm in size,
the coating has a thickness of less than 100 micrometers (μm), and
the coating includes a surface morphology characterized by a peak-to-valley depth (Rz) of 2 μm or less.
