1. A lubricant composition comprising:
a) an oil of lubricating viscosity selected from at least one of an API Group I oil, Group II oil, Group III oil, Group IV oil, Group V oil, and mixtures thereof; and
b) a N-aralkyl α-carbonyl functional amine selected from a compound of the formula:

wherein R, R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently represent hydrogen or an unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group containing 1 to 24 carbon atoms; A is selected from 0 and NR5, wherein R5 represents hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group containing 1 to 24 carbon atoms; and R6 represents a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group containing 1 to 24 carbon atom; and wherein said N-aralkyl α-carbonyl functional amine is present in an amount ranging from about 0.1 to about 6 wt. % based on the weight of the total composition.
