1. A compound of formula (II) or (III), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof:

wherein:
R1 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C2-C12 alkenyl, C2-C12 alkynyl, aryl, heterocyclyl, heteroaryl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, amino, amido, alkylthio, acyl, arylalkyl and acylamido, all of which may be optionally substituted; and
A is heteroaryl or heterocyclyl, each of which is optionally substituted and linked to the sulfonyl sulphur through a ring nitrogen; and
W2 and R2 form an indacene group or a substituted or hydrogenated variant thereof.
